By Ilario Pantano, on Oct 23, 2010

YouCut

Tired of the run away spending in Washington? Concerned we are spending ourselves off a cliff?  Me too, that’s why I feature this regular installment on YouCut,  an interactive way for YOU the taxpayer to get involved in the budget process.  YouCut allows you, the citizen, to cast an online vote to let your voice be heard by stopping the runaway spending in Washington.

In a letter from Eric Cantor, House Republican Whip:

NPR firing Juan Williams for expressing his opinion demonstrates an over-reaching political correctness that is chipping away at the fundamental American freedoms of speech and expression. That is why we have included the termination of federal funding for NPR in the latest round of YouCut options.

We're asking you to weigh in: do you believe that your tax dollars should be going to fund NPR?

YouCut: We Need An Earmark Moratorium

Tired of the run away spending in Washington? Concerned we are spending ourselves off a cliff?  Me too, that’s why I feature this regular installment on YouCut,  an interactive way for YOU the taxpayer to get involved in the budget process.  YouCut allows you, the citizen, to cast an online vote to let your voice be heard by stopping the runaway spending in Washington.

In a letter from Eric Cantor, House Republican Whip:

House Republicans took an unprecedented stand in March, imposing an immediate moratorium on earmarks for the remainder of the Congress. Yet, because the governing rules of one Congress cannot bind the next, this moratorium will expire on Jan. 3, 2011. I do not believe that should be allowed to happen.

That is why the next Republican Conference should immediately move to eliminate earmarks. Should Republicans be elected as the majority party, I believe that we should extend the moratorium to the entire House - to Democrats and Republicans alike. And I encourage President Barack Obama and the White House to take a similar step.

Earmarks are a symptom of a disease - and that disease is Washington's runaway spending. There is no silver bullet. For us to successfully eliminate the sickness, several prescriptions are needed. One is to apply the current House Republican earmark moratorium to all House members.

YouCut: Vote Today To Cut Spending!

Republicans want citizens to help slash spending

Tired of the run away spending in Washington? Concerned we are spending ourselves off a cliff?  Me too, that’s why I feature this weekly installment on YouCut,  an interactive way for YOU the taxpayer to get involved in the budget process.  YouCut allows you, the citizen, to cast an online vote to let your voice be heard by stopping the runaway spending in Washington.

Here's the latest letter  from Congressman Eric Cantor:

The policies put forward by President Obama and Speaker Pelosi over the last 20 months have caused the size and reach of the government to grow exponentially.

Since President Obama took office, the Federal civilian workforce has grown by approximately 188,000 new employees (this number even excludes temporary census workers) or about 15 percent. Meanwhile, the private sector has lost millions of jobs and the unemployment rate hovers around 10 percent.

This week's winning YouCut item, supported by Rep. Lummis of Wyoming, would save the taxpayers $35 billion over the next ten years by reining in the growth of the federal workforce.

We need to cut spending immediately and we need to end the uncertainty that has paralyzed our nation's economy.

Click here to vote on the next five YouCut projects and we will bring the winning item to the floor for a vote.

Regards,

Eric Cantor
House Republican Whip

I am fully in support of hunting down and stopping wasteful spending wherever we find it.  Now the Republicans in Congress want citizens to join the hunt.

YouCut: Proof That Democrats Are Willfully Obstructing The Will Of The People

By Ilario Pantano, on Aug 23, 2010

YouCut

As you know, a couple of weeks ago, I publicly supported the proposed budget cuts of Secretary of Defense Robert Gates.  He had proposed non-mission critical personnel cuts (specifically high level brass and redundant agencies) and after review of his proposal, I concluded that the cuts were necessary, advisable, and set a great example for the rest of the federal bureaucracy.

Sure, I took some heat from both sides, but I have to tell you, folks, I AM SERIOUS about curtailing our out-of-control spending habits! I'm not playing political games with this, and I'm not mouthing platitudes.   This is called tough love - and it means that before the honest, tax-paying citizens of this country have to tighten their belt one more notch, the federal government MUST cut spending.

In the months since we started featuring YouCut on this website, I have not been surprised that the Democrats have foiled every single attempt to cut spending as proposed NOT by Republicans (who are simply the messengers in this case), but by YOU, the People!  Who do the Democrats think they are?  Not representatives of the People, that's for sure, or else they would slash the budget according to OUR dictates.  Instead, they protect every worthless expenditure as sacrosanct.  It's absurd.  (Which is why my infamous proposal to cut congressional pay by 25% needs a second look, folks!)

I think I have proven, and our military has proven, that no expense is sacred.  If a conservative, pro-military Republican can agree to trim the fat in the DoD, then so can every fat-cat, pork-rolling politician out there!  Otherwise, they cannot be considered serious or credible about our economy or our future.

Our federal budget is dripping with fat, and if the Democrats cannot be persuaded to cut a single red cent, then they must get out of our way.  They are willfully obstructing  the will of the People.
