HOPE MILLS, N.C. – Frank Williams, Chairman of the N.C. 7th Congressional District Republican Party, issued the following statement following tonight’s (Sept. 10) debate between Republican Congressional candidate Ilario Pantano and seven-term incumbent Democrat Mike McIntyre:

“Tonight’s debate further revealed a clear contrast between Ilario Pantano and Congressman Mike McIntyre. In response to question after question, Congressman McIntyre answers reflected his belief that government is the solution to our problems. In effect, Congressman McIntyre said that you can’t help an area’s economic growth without government intervention. This government-knows-best philosophy, combined with the fact that Congressman McIntyre votes with Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-San Francisco) over 90% of the time, are proof positive that he has been in Washington too long.

“In contrast, Ilario Pantano understands that the best way to stimulate our economy is to create an environment in which small businesses can grow, prosper and create private sector jobs. Citizens in southeastern North Carolina are hungry for a strong leader who will stand up and fight to cut taxes and stop the reckless, unsustainable spending binges we have seen during Speaker Pelosi’s tenure. Tonight’s debate once again proved that Ilario Pantano is that kind of leader.”
